Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor who is best recognized for her role as detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue and for which she earned the Emmy Award. Delaney was the sole daughter of an United Auto Workers senior executive and domestic worker was raised by her four brothers and sisters. Although she was a child with a aspiration to become journalist, it was not until high school when Delaney started modeling. After moving from New York City and gaining experiences in commercials in New York did she achieve an aspiring career as court reporters. She starred in 1981 as a naive teen in the film All My Children. Since then, Delaney has been featured in many film and television dramas. While she has a career success, her personal one is not as content and successful. The talented actor has had to battle alcoholism, as well as two marriages that failed. She lost custody of her son in 2005.
